what to expect?

Will tickets be available on the day?

Yes! Tickets will be available on the day before departing on the ferry to Cape Clear. That said its better if you can book in advance so we can be excited that you are coming and make sure we organise a bed for you!

What should I bring?

The weather is a great storyteller so bring practical footwear, rain gear and plenty of sun screen (I have the child of prague out!)

You should bring any special dietary requirements you have with you, there is a small grocers shop, cafe/restaurant for lunches and dinner.

There is no ATM on the island so you should withdraw cash on the mainland before coming, most places accept card on the island but better safe than sorry.

I have mobility concerns, is the island accessible to me?

Cape Clear is a rural island accessible only by ferry from the mainland with a small community and as such accessibility infrastructure is not as developed as you might expect in an urban context, this may present some challenges to those with mobility concerns.

There are approximately 10 - 20 steps into and off the ferry depending on tides. The ferry staff will assist folks with specific needs.  On May 26th the 14.00 Ferry departing Baltimore and returning the 27th May at 17.00 will have 5 steps into and off the boat.

All this said please do get in touch if you would like more information or I can assist you coming along.

The island operates a shuttle bus service for €2 a trip which can be arranged to take you from the harbor to your accommodation, or bring you to specific venues or events.

You can find more information here
